Hi, there are four large conifers towering at the end of my garden starting to block all the sun. Jusr wondered if anyone had any idea on cost, not of removing them, but cutting them right down. They are higher than the house and there before I moved in. Anyone any experience of this? They are also in neighbours garden and thr boundary, and realise I ll need to speak to them also, can't just do it 🙂

Can you explain more? Are they all in the neighbours garden? In which case you cannot cut them down, so the cost is a bit irrelevant!

You could offer to pay half, even though the trees are not yours.

Maybe get a quote first.

To add, it also depends if the trees counts as a "hedge" what your rights are.

If they're in your neighbour's garden you can't do anything with them. Maybe speak to them first?

Just be aware that if they are chopped down there will be eight million spiders looking for a new home and you might want to move.

I had a very large tree in my garden which I have recently moved into. The neighbors at the bottom of my garden approached me and asked if I would consider having a good portion reduced and they would pay half. We have had this done it was 500 between us.

I had a conifer removed from the front garden this summer. It was as high as the lamppost & 8 foot wide, the root was ground out with a machine.
Cost was £400

Thanks for update re cost estimates. It was around cost really. Recognise will need to chat to neighbours etc and am fine with that. Was worried as someone said it could cost thousands to cut them lower. My neighbour doesnt seem bothered about them, and if not too much I may even just sort with their permission - in my garden all the time and really spoiling my enjoyment of it with fast growth. Thanks everyone.
