Can anyone recommend a scented rose variety suitable for being in a container? Ideally something frost tolerant too as it would be outdoors over the winter.

I have David Austen Harlow Carr.
Doing ok in a container for three years. Smells beautiful and a repeat flowerer.

Thank you so much - that looks perfect.

I have David Austin Ghislaine de Feligonde in a large pot with a small obelisk for it to scramble over. It's been in there a couple of years and doing fine so far. You'll need to feed it regularly and I replace the top 15cm of compost each spring.

On the David Austin website they have recommendations for roses that are suitable for containers.

Thanks everyone - it’s for MIL who will be good at keeping on top of pruning and feeding.

@Cremeul can I ask how big your Ghislaine de Feligonde has got in that time? I'm looking for a rose to cover quite a large expanse of wall but it also needs to be happy in a container. Thanks!
