Compact CORDED lawn mower?

AlmostCutMyHairToday · 08/11/2024 13:21

Looking for recommendations for a small CORDED lawn mower, that collects the clippings. Not a 'hover' type please. Ideally below £300.

We have a small narrow garden (3.5m x 10m) with easy access to a power outlet, and I'd like to avoid batteries as I forget to charge them.

Currently have a Flymo hover mower and hate it so much. It's so heavy to operate - doesn't seem to hover at all, I have to push and drag it so much that it's taking out clumps of grass and ruining the lawn!

(I've also tried using a strimmer instead of a mower as the garden is pretty small, but it takes quite a while and raking up the clippings is annoying)

Many thanks : )

Can't help with your question as I'm a big fan of cordless, but have you tried cleaning the air filter on the hover?

I'll take a look at ours when I get a chance. DH isn't a fan of cordless or hover and replaced ours quite recently. I'm not sure if it's 'compact' but it doesn't look huge to me and it seems to make quite light work of our sloping lawn, picks up the grass (and leaves!) pretty well.

We have this one and it does the job well for the price! www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb833lwm-1700w-37cm-electric-lawn-mower-230v/325kh

I bought this a couple of summers ago , still one of gardens world top choices this year , https://www.gardenersworld.com/reviews/lawn-care/gardena-powermax-1200-32-electric-corded-lawn-mower-review/

Initially felt a little lightweight , but actually does a pretty good job on our medium size lawns . Like yourself I had had enough of flymo ones that gave up on the flying part !

A simple, easy to use mower for smaller lawns.

I go of this one in the summer, easy to use lightweight, different mowing lengths and cheap.

Hmm interesting.. I don't think we have.. though it's always been pretty difficult to push around. I'll have a look thought, thanks for the suggestion : )

Thanks for all the suggestions, super useful! At one point I got so annoyed with the mower I actually cut a large part of the lawn with scissors... (I have since bought a strimmer!)

Ours is Black and Decker, I think it's this one but there are smaller similar models
