Tomatoes / shady area HELP PLEASE

It will be obvious in a minute that I know nothing about gardening, but I suddenly want to get out there and grow stuff.... so please help.......

Firstly, I have grown some tomato seedling inside in tiny little peat pots and I don't know what to do next. When they are 6 inches or so I know I need to move them but I have just realised I don't really have much space to plant them directly into the ground. Can I put them into big pots outside? Can I put more than 1 in a pot or should I get a separate big pot for each individual seedling? Actually can I squeeze them into the ground inbetween some of the other random other plants which are already growing or do they need to be in a separate roomy area?

Secondly - any thoughts what I can put in a large section of the ground at the end of the garden which is untouched because it gets virtually no sun due to several large trees? i would love to put fruit / veg but imagine that nothing will grow without the sun - any ideas please?

The tomato plants will be fine in a big pot. I would do one per pot as they like lots of water.

you could pt them in pots or buy a grow bag where you slit the top and can put three in, though it doesn't look as nice as a pot.

theres 103 plants Here that like shade - so take your pick

pots or growbags are really good....and water with some organic feed.

if you are growing them outside once they have produced 3-4 bunches of tomatoes then just remove any more and let those 3 grow and ripen....

You may also have to remove some leaf shoots but it depends on the variety....

There is some advice here

Don't put them outside until all danger of ground frost is past (usually around the end of May, depending where abouts you are) and 'harden them off' first by putting them outside in the daytime but bringing them inside at night for a couple of weeks.

lettuce, carrots, radishes and cabbages may grow in partial shade but wont do as well as if they had some sun. rocket will grow pretty much anywhere... HTH

Thank you so much - pots it is for my little smashing tomatoes, and I am off to the garden centre with ideas for the dark abyss at the end of the garden.

if its under trees, look for things for dry shade - the tree roots will suck up all the moisture and if you plant things that like damp shade like hostas they wont thrive. have grown tomatoes in pots and even if they're cherry ones in hanging baskets and they did really well.
