Spring bulbs already germinating?!

I’m new to bulbs. I planted lots in pots about a month ago, Dutch lasagna style with early flowering ones on top. Today I saw that some have started germinating already! Isn’t that too early? They are all spring bulbs, not autumn ones. I think the ones germinating are early irises or crocuses. Please reassure me it’ll all be fine ☺️

And does that mean I need to start watering them? I hadn’t planned to water until next January at the earliest. TIA

It will be fine. When (if!) it gets cold they will grow more slowly. Lots of my daffs are already poking their noses up in the garden; it often happens in a mild autumn. Then they just sit tight with a couple of inches of leaves through the winter weather till it’s flowering time. Tough things, bulbs.

If the pots dry out, yes water them.

They'll be fine, I left mine sitting in my warm kitchen for weeks and they were already sprouting when I opened the packaging, oops. The first cold snap will send them back into hibernation.

Sprouting or not, I wouldn't let bulbs dry out once planted. I'm not expecting to have to water mine though, autumn and winter are wet enough and cool enough that things generally stay pretty moist anyway.

Agree with everyone above. They’re not actually germinating though, that’s a technical term for a seed beginning to put out a root. They’re sprouting

My apple trees have blossom on them 🫣

Yeah, a lot of things are willing to have a second go in autumn. My strawberries are in flower.

I was just about to plant mine. They've been "on the side" about a month 🙈.
Will they still be okay? I was going to give lasagne-ing a go!
