Are there any seeds on this plant that can be harvested for sowing?

We have one flowering atm too.

Beautiful.

Keen to know too.

BlueChampagne · 07/10/2024 13:22

It's usually a bit thuggish so you could just split it?

LivelyGoldOrca · 07/10/2024 13:23

Mine get eaten always by a little black fly/larva :-(

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 07/10/2024 13:23

They increase by division, but be aware that they HATE being disturbed and may sulk or die. They are all named clones, so even if you did get some viable seed it would not give you the same plant.

Get a new one at thé nursery

I split mine without any problem. Pot them up and donate to the village fete every year. Mind you, they are taking over one of my flowerbeds so if some clumps died I'd be happy!

MereDintofPandiculation · 08/10/2024 09:04

Look at the darker balls and see if any crumble into a mass of ripe seeds if you gently rub them.

olderbutwiser · 08/10/2024 09:07

You can have as many splits as you want from my garden, I’m digging up a whole bed that’s become infested with them uninvited. They are lovely at this time of year but can be shocking thugs. Just split yours, or give them time to ramble.

ScarlettSunset · 08/10/2024 09:12

I'm planning on splitting mine. It's lovely but not where I really want it as it's become quite large for where it is.

Pastimperfection · 08/10/2024 09:28

I have never found a problem dividing them

Maggiethecat · 08/10/2024 09:37

Unfortunately that plant is outside a cafe. If I can’t get seed off it I’ll look at buying a plant.

You could try Freecycle first - someone locally might have one they're happy to divide! Or even ask the cafe nicely.

hippysunshine · 09/10/2024 08:36

I divide mine also. Well, mostly they have baby plants growing around them so I pot those ones up and either give them away or put them somewhere else in the garden. They are pretty hardy and all my potted ones have flourished with no problem. I don’t even pay attention to when/how it’s done 🙈 They just work themselves out when I have attacked them. They are great 👍
