Hakonechloa macra in pots

I feel like I'm spamming the Gardening topic at the moment, but I want to get all my questions asked

I have some hakonechloa macra growing in the ground, but they have been swamped by geraniums (and grow painfully slowly), so I'm thinking of putting it in containers in the hope of achieving something like this photo.

I like it so much I'm thinking of buying some more, in 2L pots. Would it work to plant a couple of 2L plants in one terracotta pot to get this kind of effect more quickly? Would they mesh together and look like one plant or would they resent being crammed together in this way?
