As a child mum would sit me down with dried out branches. I had to very carefully peel off the outside of leaves to reveal translucent centres. These she used along with pussy willow and those reeds with brown velvety tops bullrushes??

I can't remember the name of the leaves I had to peel, can anyone else?

Perhaps Honesty seed heads? So, not leaves but the seed pods. They were very popular for indoor dried arrangements years ago. It is an easily grown annual with pretty purple flowers.

Oh thank you that's it. They were a beast to do but very pretty as part of an autumn display.
