small black beetles

Hi I don't really know where to post this so I'm asking green fingered MNers.

For some reason a large number of small black beetles are in love with my front door.

There are hundreds of them. The only thing I can think to do is keep spraying the door with raid which is not something I can do indefinitely.

They are tiny about half the size of a ladybird.

I've tried my landlord who only do pest control on blocks of flats.

The council will only do ants, wasps or bees (and various rodents).

Any idea of what they are? Any idea how to get rid and if I have to go to a commercial company how much it costs?

Sorry for all the questions. This is the first place I have lived with a garden and gardening is done by the landlord.

Thank you for any help.

Can you post a decent pic of them?
also, lots of insects are attracted to colours and smells. Assuming your front door doesn't have a really interesting smell, what colour is it? Not yellow, by any chance?

The door is black.

The gardeners have, thankfully, swept most of them away.

I've got a similar issue. Mine are slightly different in that they are giant willow aphids (some have wings and some just look like beetles) I've had an invasion of them this year.

I've attached a pic, but I think they are different. I'm guessing they like my door because it's wooden.
