Why do people grow marrows?

Surely they are the most pointless vegetable on the planet, yet I come home every day to find a couple of the bloody things on my doorstep from kindly neighbours. I’m overrun with the effing things! They all say the same ‘They were courgettes yesterday and today they are huge’
Why grow the sodding things in the first place? It’s the same ever year fgs.

When I was a child my parents would roast marrow around the beef joint and it would soak up all the beef juices - I would beg them for more! I’ve been a veggie for over 20 years now but the thought of it still makes my mouth water!

That sounds lovely, but I can't help thinking it would be just as nice if you left out the courgette.

This is the best courgette pasta!
