Leggy hydrangea

I’ve got a new hydrangea that’s gone very leggy. Thin long stems, so the flowers are on the grass. How can I encourage it to grow up, with supportive stems ?

The ones with very big flowerheads are quite often leggy - and need some support - bamboo canes or metal supports. Anabelle etc.

You can prune it back by a 1/3 or so but you'll lose flowers, it's probably worth it to get them to be a bit stronger.

Thanks, I’ll stake it for now, and prune when the flowers start to die off
