Precious roses from elderly neighbour's farm

Last year, I took cuttings from an old shrub rose growing at the side of our previous neighbour's farmhouse. The council has sold the land for 1700 houses to be built and the farmhouse has now been demolished. My neighbour is now 100 and has been living in nursing care for around 15 years. I have managed to grow the cuttings and got in touch with her daughter to see if she and her brother would like them as a reminder of their childhood home. My email came at the right time - she has let me know her mum is now at end of life care. Thanks everyone for your encouragement and help last year - particularly @meredintofpandiculation. They are potted on and ready for their new homes. I probably shouldn't have let them flower but I couldn't resist 😊. Sorry to brag but I am pretty pleased with myself. 😊. Any final tips anyone?

This is so lovely.

I have a peony from my Grandmas garden via DM’s ( now dead) garden.I think about them every time l see it. From when it first starts peeping through to when they die off in autumn.

I let it lie through years of sulking and refusing to flower. It rewards me every year now.❤️
