Sweet pea or edible pea?

I thought I’d bought a sweet pea plant and have lost the label. But the pods are just like normal English peas. I know you shouldn’t eat sweet pea pods but would the difference be very clear?

I have pods with nice looking peas in them but I’m nervous of eating them!

Do you have a photo? What were the flowers like?

sweet pea pods are normally furry and the 'peas' can be pretty small
edible peas are normally smooth with much bigger peas

but I'm not 100% sure that applies in all cases.

not sure what the flowers were like but don’t think there were a lot of them. No flowers now on this plant

Those look edible to me. Were the flowers quite small and all white

That looks pretty identical to my edible pea plant!

Yes those are peas not sweet peas.

Some edible peas have purple flowers.

Thanks everyone you gave me the confidence to have the peas last night and they were lovely 😊
