How do I get my carrots to put more energy in the orange bit and not as much in the leafy bit?

Give them a longer time to grow.

Really? Planted them in May!

You’ve only grown them for 2 months. They take more like 4 months!

A quick Google suggests that you might want to wait a bit longer. Up to you, though.

The leafy bit creates the energy to put in the orangey bit.
