Pruning lavender and what about foxgloves?

Couple of questions please:
I have lavender that is very woody for the bottom half. How hard should I prune it back once it has finished flowering?
Foxgloves - I have grown some bought as young plants earlier this year and they grew well and have finished now flowering. Do I just leave them to wither or chop them off at some point?

Let the foxglove form seeds and gather them for later/sow them/let the seeds fall naturally before cutting back. They only live 2 years and die after flowering.

Foxgloves are biennials, so they last two years. If you don't want them to seed, chop off the stalk and dig up the plant. They will seed freely, so if you don't want to be without them (I love them, so do the bees), leave a few to go to seed. Then in the spring you'll see small plants coming up, and you can move them to whoever you want, and you'll never be without them.
lavender I'll leave to someone else, too far north and too high up to grow it, it always dies.

Lavender won't re-grow from woody growth so any pruning needs to be into green. If they're very woody it's probably time to replace them.

Thanks all.
My fault with the lavender going so woody as I was too ill last year to be out in the garden much. I think one of them will need replacing then.
I love the foxgloves so will sow the seeds.

I have had new growth on my lavender so don't get rid just yet. I'd trim back to a few green leaves and see what they do next year. I'm a bit maverick with mine and cut back early spring and quite hard, not even leaving green leaves and they come back each year. I've probably jinxed it now and they will all die next year 🙄
