What’s happening to our Apple Tree?

Just cut off the tips of our apple tree, it’s the same on all tips that I’ve trimmed off, use to seeing ‘ants?’ on them but this year it looks quite bad, what can we do (okay so maybe a bit late as we’ve trimmed tops off) but should we get something to spray?

Hello Seeyouyesterday,

The new growth on apple trees are often attacked by aphids.

You could trim off the tips back to where they are not suffering from an attack to an outward facing bud / leaf joint.

Happy gardening

Rosy apple aphid is one of several aphid species that can occur on apple trees, it causes leaves to curl and can cause fruit distortion. .
