Garden playhouses

Not exactly a gardening itself topic but thought this best forum to put it in. Am wanting to buy a playhouse for 18mnth old and wanted to know what people's experience is of them. Are the plastic variety better than the wood? I tend to feel that the wooden ones look nicer, less garish coloured but they are probably more maintenance involved.
It doesn't necessarily need a floor as I have both a grassy area and patio area it could go on.

We have a little tikes one that is brillient for dd. Decided not to get a wooden one as we move the house around depending on what time of year it is. Also possibly easier to sell on and probably last a bit longer. All it needs is a quick power wash every spring and you're good to go!

Agree that the wooden ones are nicer but I think lo's like the hideously bright colours!

My tip is that they are a waste of money. Kids love playing in them in Toysrus, then you get one home and they sit in the garden unused.

Hi there, we got a wooden one when the youngest was about 18 months and its fab.We put a play kitchen in there and they love it. It looks dead cute all painted in the garden and is a handy place to sling all their stuff too. Its personal choice but I have noticed the plastic ones fade over time and can look tatty after a couple of years. The wooden type will also convert to a bike store or something when they're older.

Yeah sophierosie the lo's are attracted to the bright colours. I hadn't thought of selling on but that is a good point too.

My neighbour had a plastic one and it did fade badly and never looked clean to me. That may be because she never cleaned it tho-dunno. hen I was a child I actually had a wooden shed that my parents didnt use and have to say I loved it. Dint have any playfeatures like they so these days. Good idea for storage too as they tend to be bigger.

I couldn't find the Wilkos play house on their website by the way, but picked up their Summer Magazine from the store today and its in the back of there.
