What annuals under roses?

Morning, we have these beautiful roses but it's a bit bare underneath them.

Any recommendations for some cheap bedding annuals that we could plant under them?

(Also happy to consider perinuals as well)

Thank you.

Decorative cabbages. Apparently they help prevent greenfly.

Salvia's also help to protect roses

Hello Libra19752,

I agree with marmaladeandpeanutbutter perennial geraniums would go well under your roses you could also add some alliums to add height and further interest.

I heard somewhere that roses likes garlic underneath, it should repellent aphids naturally.

Our herbs go under the roses. They get along well.

Fantastic thank you, think I will seek out some perrenial geraniums and also love the idea of wild garlic/herbs!

Perennial geraniums are the classics.

I know you’ve posted that you’re going to get some, but I’m posting to say I totally agree. There are 100s of varieties and colours ranging from white to dark maroon.
The varieties range from large, spreading types to small alpine varieties. If carefully chosen you could have flowers for most of the year.
can you tell I’m a fan?
