I really love this tree, I've always admired the beautiful red and orange foliage you get in the autumn and also the red candle like seed heads. I would love to plant one in the garden but I've read that it's invasive, throwing out suckers all the time which are difficult to remove. It sounds like japanese knot weed. Does anyone have this and is it OK to plant one or would that be a terrible idea?

It isn't that invasive. Basically it will occasionally shoot up suckers and the more you damage the roots the more it will do it. So I wouldn't plant it in a lawn because it could get knocked by the mower and send up suckers. They are really beautiful. Stick it in a border and don't dig near it and it won't send up many suckers
