Pots pots pots!

I have lots of tulips in pots that are now finished. Should I dig up the bulbs? Get rid of them? Save them for next year?

And then what to put in the pots?

I always find this time of year confusing with pots 😁

Thanks! 🙏

In my experience you have to have the right varieties, and be lucky, to get potted tulips to flower a second time.

If you want to try, your best bet is to keep them in their pots, well watered and (crucially) fed, until the leaves die down completely. Then take them out, dry and store. I would replant in an area where it doesn't matter too much if only some of them come back. If you have an out of the way spot where you could grow them for cutting, that would be perfect, but I wouldn't rely on them for a planned display in the garden.

@MontyDonsBlueScarf thanks! Good idea to plant them for cutting. Any ideas on pots this time of year? I’ll replant with tulips in the autumn. 🌷
