Cut flower beds

So I've started some cut flower beds this year and things are starting to come up. However everything so far (mainly ranunculus) seems fairly sparse. Should I have planted closer together for a cut flower bed given that the aim is to have lots and lots of flowers?

Surely though it's all going to grow bigger. You'll need space for the plants to spread out and flower.

Depends where you are, it’s a bit early for some seeds to germinate. I over seeded mine last year and ended up with a cornflower jungle!
