Acer soil

I've got two very vigorous camellias, peonies love the soil. I'm looking for low maintenance options to fill a very large border and I absolutely adore acers. Will they like the soil if camellias grow very heartily ?

I am not an expert, but I have an Acer and a camellia growing next to each other. They both seem happy. The Acer doesn’t like being in direct sun for hours in the summer though, the leaves on top get a bit burnt and crispy.

Sounds a good bet. Acers don’t like wind (it dries them out). I’ve got neutral-to-acid clay and lots of shade. No trouble with either acers ir camellias.

(Of course sycamore is an Acer and that grows anywhere)

Japanese maples will be fine. They like neutral to slightly acidic soil, which is what camellias and peonies like too, so if they are growing well, the soil is suitable.

Check out the supermarkets for acers just now, they're much cheaper than buying bigger trees and will take much more easily, as long as you get them when they're not long in, before they are neglected to death.
