What’s the best way of getting the root out?

You have to dig carefully to extract but you often can't if they have seeded in tricky places.

Having read how amazing dandelions are for bees in the spring, before other flowers get going, I've reclassified them in my head to avoid having to worry to much.

I’ve left a whole bank of them for the bees and the birds. But I think I need to tackle the ones in the border.

There’s over 100 species of dandelion, and trying to identify the ones in your garden means you look at them and see differences between them - changes the way you view them

When we moved into our house the garden had not been tended for a few years and we had a million dandelions. We used one of these to remove them. They have not come back … you need to get them out before they set seed.

We used to have guinea pigs which liked eating them, so we left the dandelions alone. Big mistake. 😂

We had a tortoise years ago with the same result - he also like buttercups, so double trouble !

You can make home made weed killer with vinegar and salt.

That will affect the soil though - salting the earth is not a good idea if you want to grow anything else there.
