Can anyone suggest a suitable evergreen plant for a container that will sit in full shade, please - not toxic to cats..?

Thanks in advance.

What size container? If you're looking for bedding size plants, fill it with busy lizzies over summer. Mine were beautiful on my shady patio last year.

Hydrangea, rhododendron, camelia...

Ferns

Agree with ferns, they're bulletproof and look elegant in pots.

Acanthus. Not strictly evergreen, but has survived severe frost chez moi, and even one time it had seemed to die, it miraculously revived and regrew. Impervious to pests, disease, happy in shade, and completely safe for cats.

Hostas

Hostas die back in winter, but they are perfect for shady areas.

Ferns are gorgeous, hydrangea look great in pots in full shade, some acers don't mind shade

Hostas. Acer. Ferns.

These are a couple of my pots. The hostas’ success does depend on having a way of dealing with slugs and snails however. Nematodes have been a game changer for me.

The other pot is Japanese forest grass - hakonecloa (sp?), with a clematis at the back.

acanthus - hmm - I’d not trust it not to make a leap for freedom and spread …
