Agapanthus

I have an agapanthus I want to plant in a border. A woman in the shop said they like being pot bound and I should plant the whole pot in the border to keep them together for more flowers. Is this good advice?

I’ve never planted mine in the border in a pot, they’ve flowered well despite not being confined.

I've done well without (hadn't heard the advice tbh)

Also heard this advice - being root bound promotes flowering.

It is supposed to be good also if you want to lift and store for over winter if you live in a cooler/wetter part of the country.

Thanks everyone. I will give it a go by planting the pot and see how it goes. I have wanted these for a long time, finally treated myself.
