Dead wisteria

My beautiful wisteria looks dead 😭
It was probably > 30 years old and gave us such joy every Spring. It had climbed over a large pergola in garden and right across the back of the house.
Realised today when I saw neighbours in bloom that there are no signs of life and have snapped a few branch ends which were v brittle. It'll be a bugger to dig out, the main trunk is huge.
What could have caused this?

Exactly the same thing happened to ours. It had been on the house around 50 years judging from photos. Last year it just died. I was in denial at first but this spring it was obvious that it was completely dead and we removed it.

One of mine did the same. Honey fungus maybe?

Generally they live about 50 years, so may just have been its time,
