Propagating indoor pothos

I've been propagating cuttings from a few of my houseplants, and I'm able to get a nice big root grown, and planted into soil and it survives. However, how do I encourage multiple stems to grow? See photo below, my pothos tend to just grow in one big stem.

I have a satin pothos which has got 2 stems coming up from under the soil after planting the rooted cutting, but I did nothing different that I'm aware of...

They are climbers, which will send out roots if they touch soil. I would either just put several cuttings in one pot, or loop one round and get it to root into the soil again. I don't think they naturally have a branching habit.
