Question about Nepeta

Hi all

I have six hills giant Nepeta in the garden but as I'm working on rest of garden I want more. Shall I get some.plug plants of it, or can I take cuttings from the existing plant which is growing quite quick at the mo, and pot up ready to plant out once rooted? I don't know If I'm to late in spring to do this

If your existing plants are of a decent size you should be able to divide them.

Dig them up and split them into four usually. They’ll soon grow into clumps again.

Try waiting for the shoots to get 6-12" long. Then cut a few just below a node and keep them in water on a lightish windowsill. They will probably grow roots and you can pot them up individually, then plant out when they are actively growing.

I’ve always divided them and replanted. It is a little “weed like” in its ability to survive.
