Easy pot flowers from seed

Ideas please for some seeds that I can plant straight into an outside pot and that then make a good summer display - also, when to plant? (in Berkshire).

If its a big pot, maybe try some summer bulbs, dahlias, lillies, etc, there will be a section all of summer bulbs in the garden centres at the moment. Just check how tall they will grow, as some of them get very tall. Bulbs are great because they are pretty self reliant, and won't appear until after the last frost.

If your determined to use seed, i'd maybe go for nastutiums, lovely leaves as well as flowers...and you can use the flowers in salads. I did all my window boxes with them last year and they really did look lovely for ages.
