Help please - pigeons eating everything

After some advice. I’ve been growing nasturtiums in the greenhouse for a few weeks and they are ready to go out in the beds in the garden now. We have three pigeons in our garden who I’ve previously seen eating grass seed I put down. So as a test I planted out two nasturtiums just to see what happened, and two weeks later they’ve eaten them both down to the ground! I really don’t want them to eat the other 20+ plants - so I’d really appreciate any advice on how to get them to leave them alone.

they like fresh plants. you need to either plant lots so some have a chance or cover them until they are sturdy enough to withstand a nibble.

buy a packet of wooden skewers and put them in and about your seedlings, they won't be able to walk around and peck at them.

Cut a plastic bottle in half and put over a vulnerable plant .

Thank you, I thought they were big enough to ‘fend for themselves’ but underestimated the pigeons - I’ll have to give some thought to what I can cover them with.

Thank you, that’s a good idea, I’ll get some and give it a go!

Thank you, I did think of that but I think the plants are too big to fit in little bottles and would take forever to work my way through 20 big bottles 🤣
