What the hell is wrong with my orchid?

Every birthday my mum buys me an orchid. They die within the year. Either I water them too much or not enough or they don't like the sunlight or they don't like the draught or... you get the idea! This year's is looking like this:

Any ideas? What can I do for it?

No idea but seeing as so many of them die in your care why don't you ask your mother to buy you a different plant or an artificial orchid that just requires dusting?

You need to let the light get to the roots, they use them to photosynthesise. There have been quite a few orchid threads on here over the years so have a search and see what you can find.

Take them out of the soil and gloopy moss shit, dump them in a clear pot of orchid bark, stick them on the windowsill and forget about them until they start looking wrinkly.

Do you keep it in a pot as per the photo? Mine are in transparent pots on a windowsill with filtered light. Some have yet to flower but they do OK.
Every so often they get put in the shower, but that's about it.
