My dahlias are in the greenhouse and are just starting to show some sign of life, tiny shoots, am I being impatient...or should they be a bit further on by this time of year?

I don't think so... It's only early-ish April and it's not been particularly warm yet this year

That’s about right for the season, depending on where you are. They don’t want to get frosted, and that can happen in May!

( mine are still in the loft, must excavate)

MereDintofPandiculation · 11/04/2024 12:03

Mine haven’t got that far yet

Come back in late May and we can worry together.

the temps have been really low with zero sunshine, so your dahlia are like mine having a sulk!

Potted our new ones up about a month ago (outdoors but sheltered) and have just spotted the first shoot - literally when I fed the birds this morning!

We finally had a bit of sunshine yesterday and all of a sudden, two of mine have green leaves. They have definitely been sulking because of the weather (same as most people). The rest are showing no signs of life unfortunately. These are the ones in the mini greenhouse, I have little faith that the ones in my flooded allotment will have survived, but I'm hoping for a miracle.
