Are their plants of good quality?
Am I better off going to a nursery?

I ordered 3 dahlia tubers and an assortment of bare roots from them in February and I've been really impressed. All plants have sprung into life and are looking really healthy!

They're excellent imo. And everything comes beautifully packaged too.

Agree with the above. I tried them because everything I bought from Sarah Raven was shit and failed to grow. So far all my bulbs from Farmer Gracey have come up brilliantly, plus they're on the cheaper side and beautifully packaged!

Agree with all the above my tubers and bare roots that arrived a few weeks ago are flourishing, the Sarah raven ones from last year weren’t as good 😊

Excellent in my experience - with regular discounts and offers

I've had mixed success but I think that was my lack of knowledge and crap weather. My bare root ferns looked half dead but thrived. The perfectly healthy freesia didn't do well but it was a mild wet summer. Don't know if they still do it but I bought an XXL peony and it grew bigger with more flowers than the one I'd had growing for 4 years.

My dahlias from them, only one showing any sign of life and out of three begonias, only one sprouting.

Two plants, salvia and geum are doing really well.

All spring bulbs have been good.

Candleabra · 10/04/2024 19:57

I don’t mind them for bulbs, they have good offers. I find all online retailers hit and miss for plants (plus returns are a hassle so it’s almost not worth it). I tend to buy plants from garden centres or nurseries so i can see what I’m getting,

When did you pot up the dahlias? I did mine 3 weeks ago and only 5 out of 15 are showing brief signs of life. 2 of them are in the last 24hrs. I'm not worried at this stage.

I did mine about three weeks ago, all potted up the same day. Really disappointed by only one showing any sign of life but I'm hopeful the others are just a bit slow.

I recently decided to take the plunge with trying out Farmer Gracy as I'd heard so many good things about them.

Ordered Dahlias and Begonias which turned up beautifully packaged. None have actually grown yet so I am yet to find out if they are good quality or not...

But my most recent order (mostly Lilies) has arrived in questionable condition! The bulbs have all started growing through the plastic bags and they're very pale and spindly (understandably as they've been in a cardboard box with no light). A few have also snapped in transit.

Will they be ok? Should I complain? Or just accept that these things happen with bulbs ordered in the post?
