dogs and spent mushroom compost

Has anyone with a dog used spent mushroom compost as a mulch?
I'd like to order a bulk load for my very clayey garden but don't want to spend the whole summer restraining my dog from eating it.

I have to drag him away from horse poo on walks or he'd gulp down mouthfuls of the stuff but I'm hoping the composting process stops it being so tasty.

I was worried about this - my dog will eat anything. He has shown no interest in the spent mushroom compost we had last year, or the composted manure we had before Christmas. Literally not a second glance.

I would never say never as my last dog ate soil given half a chance, but this seems to be ok for now.

Thanks, that sounds hopeful! I'd like to try a small bag first before ordering a load but I've never seen any in the local garden centres.
