Hi all

I'm looking for a quick climbing rose or clematis that I can grow in a pot. I have 2 sections of fence I need to cover around 6 ft high

I'm.not fussed to much on how long they flower for just something fast growing and hardy, not interested in evergreen jasmine, I e got two in the ground already and very slow

Thank you

Clematis montana is vigorous and fast-growing (flowers in late spring). Clematis armandii ((flowers in early spring) is evergreen, scented, and i have seen scramble up trees to the height of a house.
Not sure how they will do in pots. The one thing clematis don’t like is hot dry roots and for anything, the bigger the pot the better.
it would be worth doing some research on specialist rose and clematis nursery websites for suitable varieties.

Roses like to grow deep roots so only the small versions patio roses do well if permanently in an average sized pot. If you had something like a half barrel sized container you could go for climbers or ramblers. Alberic Barbier is creamy white and nicely scented and vigourous. Super fairy is pink and a good climber. They will need feeding from time to time.
I have a clematis montana in a big planter which is happy enough but it likes to be well watered.
