What's the best fence paint in your experience?

We're putting up new fencing and I want to paint it a dark grey or black first.

Not creosote as it’s toxic to plants. I’m not sure whether you can still buy it.

You can buy creosote substitute, which is less toxic to people but I'm not sure how it affects plants.

We've used Valspar on our shed and it gives very good coverage.

I really like the Cuprinol Garden Shades range. My shed is black ash (or possibly Ash black) and IMO looks great!

Yes, I think Creosote has been banned now.

To be honest, I prefer fences to be a dark brown, as they blend in far better with the planting. Otherwise, with other colours, you are making too much of an in-your-face feature of it, rather than it being a backdrop that you don't really notice.

I like Osmo coloured oil - it's expensive though.
