I know for a fact, as they are local to me, that they grow by division or buy in bare roots. They are small, they will check each and every plant with care, and dispatch plastic free if requested etc.

You're talking about Bluebell Cottage there, not Parkers?

Yes. Although parkers aren't far away either but not very local in the same way. Nor would I vouch for them like this

I've not encountered any of these issues. Most recently on eBay I bought snowdrops in the green which arrived still flowering and continued quite happily in my godmother's garden. They came from bulbs-to-bloom. Two rare young camellias came from stephenroff. These are the sellers' names as on eBay. Oh, and a miniature Japanese cherry from yougarden, currently flowering its socks off.

I bought from stephenroff too in the early days of online buying and they were really small and not in the best of health. I was lured by the cheap prices that he has and shall never buy from him again.

I was lured by the cheap prices that he has and shall never buy from him again. Prices have to cover the nursery’s costs of looking after the plants. If they need to nurture the plants for an extra year to get them up to size, that’ll be reflected in the cost. So to a certain extent if you see low prices you must expect small plants, and to have to do more work yourself

Absolutely right there! Now if I could just explain this in a way my employers understand....

New here, apologies if you’re no longer looking for plants, I’ve ordered from a few places that have been mentioned but the best I’ve found is Champion Plants www.championplants.co.uk they’re a small family run nursery and grow lots themselves which I thought was particularly good. I’ve ordered from them a few times now and not had any problems ☺️

I realise this is an older thread that's had a spring awakening but Fibrex* are very good for pelargonium/ia, and a few other things, if anyone is thinking about bedding plants.

Can I also put in a positive word for Big Plants Nursery and Grow Paradise, they both specialise in exotics/tropical plants and all the plants I’ve got from them are very good quality.
