Agapanthus

Hi all

I have two galvanised planters I'd love to have agapanthus in, I see them in people's garden and love them, never had them myself. If I buy the bare roots etc will they bloom this year?! Also what is the longest flowering kind? If I need to protect at winter I can bring the tubs into the greenhouse

Thank you!

Hi, they should bloom this year. Mine put on a good show for a few weeks, I think it’s simply called Agapanthus navy blue . My only concern with galvanised steel is if we have a very hot summer, maybe that could heat up quite a bit? I do tomatoes in steel pots and wrap newspaper around the interior of the pot to insulate a little.
