Ideas for pots in early May please

DH has a big birthday coming up in early May and we'll have a houseful of people staying over the weekend. I'd like the garden and patio to look its best. What could I have in pots at that time of year? TIA.

That's the easiest time to make the garden look good!

You can have lots of bulbs (many tulips will be in bloom then), and violas/pansies will be at their peak. You can also put in summer bedding by then, as the frosts will be over.

The garden centres will be full of gorgeous things at that time.

Yes, I think so. Too late now to plant bulbs, but garden centres will have them in bloom in May.
