Can anyone explain the Dutch trowel? What are its advantages over the conventional trowel?

Saw one in the “pound shop” up town. Had to google to find out what it was (well I suppose I could have gone the shop and asked, but I wasn’t intending to buy anything)

I am pretty sure Adam Frost uses one when planting. He holds it vertically and facing him and kind digs in then drag the soil out towards him.

I do wonder if that's easier than my own 'scoop the soil upwards and out' method. It looks like it might move more soil, more quickly. But it is also likely to just be personal choice, I think.

Well, I was going to say that’s how a mole digs, but several videos later I’m not sure.

one of the sites on my “Dutch trowel” hunt called it a Monty Don Trowel so maybe he’s used them too.

I think they are used for making rills for sowing seeds?
