Bulb advice please

Bulbs (daffodils) from last spring, given as a gift where they pack loads into the one pot. I covered and put away left in the pot intending to try and separate and plant before autumn then before frost. I went out to try separating to plant and found they have healthy green shoots about 1.5 inches tall. What can I do? Do I bring them inside and try to help them keep growing? Or plant deep when the frost has gone? Help knowledgeable gardeners I’d be very grateful for advice.

Where have you kept them? If outside, just plant them.

They usually start growing outside at this time of year, so frost on its own won’t hurt them. You just have to manage the temperature differential between where they are now and where you want to plant them, try not to make it too abrupt.

You need to plant any bulb at 3 times the depth of the bulb, so you may want them deeper than at the moment. Personally I wouldn’t bury the whole of the shoot once it’s begun to open, but I don’t know whether that’s the “right” answer. If the shoot is still packed tight, no problem in burying it.

Thank you for your thoughts MereDintofPandiculation good idea regarding not shocking them which means they will need to be in a very sheltered area. The shoots are tightly closed. It was a big surprise as they’ve not had water in at least a month but maybe condensation from being covered.
