I plant 1500 or more every year. I use a bulb trowel or, if it's gone awol, an ordinary trowel. I'm too stoney for a bulb planter but can't see why anyone would use anything other than a trowel. Well, maybe a spade if you were planting daffs into grass but I don't plant daffs.

Has anyone tried those auger drill bits for planting bulbs? Seems like a brilliant idea but I am a bit worried about breaking my drill!

I borrowed my neighbour's auger drill bit. It was very quick but mangles lots of worms. The drill got muddy and my husband got grumpy. I have gone back to using a trowel.
