Should I repot my orchid?

I've had it a couple of years and it seems happy on the east facing window in my bathroom. I've never kept one alive long enough to consider repotting before! How do I know when to do it? It has just started growing a new flower stem, and has grown plenty of new leaves since I've had it.

Should I repot my orchid?

Looks fine to me!

Yeah looks ok for now, they actually like being kind of root bound. When you do repot only go up one side and make sure you buy an orchid specific mix. I'm having really good success using leca at the moment with the rainforest plants.

Thanks both! Will leave it alone for now Smile

Your orchid is lovely and healthy looking- so many leaves !

I'm excited by orchids atm as mine is about to flower again after a while and it's going to be magnificent by the size of the buds etc

Hopped on in excitement thinking it said "report" not "repot" and I was wondering what your poor orchid had done!
Leave well alone, it looks great

I read it as report the first time too!

Another thing you can do is buy a bag of the bark chips (especially for orchids) and sort of trickle them in around the roots, if the bark in the pot is looking low. Mine perked up after I did this.

It looks absolutely fine to me and wouldn't be developing a new flower spike if it was unhappy - the roots are supposed to be on show like that, they photosynthesise with them as well as via the leaves.

Sorry to disappoint! I'll be straight on to 101 if it does anything shady...
