Hi wise gardening mumsnetters

I bought a Ctenanthe Oppenheimiana about a month ago. It was beautiful. Big glossy leaves that curl up at night-time. I've got it in a corner away from direct sunlight and water sparingly as instructed, It's been dying ever since it arrived here, It's leaves are curling as they do at night (it might just not want to interact with me - I don't blame it as I am the Princess of Darkness for all things green and leafy), It is a shadow of it's September self and I swear I can hear it crying. Please help us !!

Might be too dry? RHS says high humidity and water freely when growing/moderately in winter.

And how much light is there in its corner? It doesn't like direct light, but does prefer it reasonably bright.

These plants like humidity, so if you can set the pot on a tray of gravel or pebbles, and keep it damp, without allowing the pot to sit in water, it will provide a micro-climate, which might help.
