Pot plant help

I bought this plant a few years back in a 4 inch pot and now it’s taking over! Do I need to put some sticks or something in? What do I do with the roots?

They are aerial roots, so just leave them be. You can buy moss poles (basically a stick with moss wrapped round it) from garden centres to support plants like that.

Oh thanks - do the roots wrap around the moss stick then? I feel like it wants to take over the room so tuck the roots back into the pot but assume that is wrong!!

You can tuck them in the soil or trim them off or leave them to do their own thing. If you do get a moss pole they may grow into it especially if it's regularly dampened. I sometimes water my Monstera adansonii by putting it under a cold shower, which is the easiest way to wet the pole, then let it drain before putting it back in the cover pot. It also washes dust off the leaves.
