Plant for picket fence

Hi all

I have a picket fence which I would love to have something growing through, I've spent to much time on Pinterest haha, I love the cottage garden look so was thinking some kind of rose but would have to be thornless as much as possible because of the kids, the gate and fence leads into the next section of garden with a lot of planting. Most ramblers grow quite high though and the fence is only 4 ft ish

I also don't know if I get.something vigorous would it damage the wood 🤔

If anyone is an expert on roses or planting that would work weaving in and out of the fence let me know please! Thanks

I think Mme Alfred Carriere could work quite well. It's not too vigorous, not many thorns and a beautiful scent.

Zephyrin Drouhin is completely thornless. Deep pink double flowers. Bloomfield Abundance and Cecile Brunner are relatively thornless. Clusters of perfectly formed “florist” type roses, but in miniature!
