Holly tree advice

Looking for some advice. I have a fairly tall holly tree - maybe 15ft - in my garden. It’s beautiful in the autumn and winter months with red berries. But it’s too tall and leggy and I’d like to bring it under control!
If I was to lop it down very severely, do you think I could encourage it to be a nice bush. Or would it die?

Unlikely to die, they’re good at re-shooting. I’m not sure of the correct time of year to do heavy pruning of hollies, I’ve a feeling it may not be winter.

We have two in our front garden which were cut right down to ground level and have resprouted and we now trim them as ball shaped bushes. The wood you cut will be excellent in a wood burner if you have a friend who can store it for next year.

Brilliant thanks so much. Will give it a go just before spring!
