Suggestions on quality wooden wind chimes

Not exactly gardening but wasn't sure where to post.

I'm looking for a good quality wooden wind chime. The bigger the better.

I've seen some wonderful metal chimes but can't find anything but cheap wooden ones which I can imagine won't have a nice sound.

Any suggestions would be great.

Windchimes are the work of the devil!

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 28/09/2023 20:11

Don’t get them is my suggestion unless you’re in a neighbour war.

FadedRed · 28/09/2023 20:12

Unless you live in the far countryside, miles away from your nearest neighbour, please don’t get any wind chimes, even good quality wooden ones. They are just an unnecessary noise nuisance in an increasingly noisy world.

DunderMifflinInc · 28/09/2023 20:13

Haha. It's a gift for someone who lives with no neighbours in the sticks. I wouldn't be that mean 😆

Also, they have asked for this as a gift! It wasn't my first choice 🤷🏻‍♀️

Woodstock make the best sounding chimes. Not sure if they do wood ones but if they do I’d buy those.

Go to Japan. Then leave them there.

At least wooden ones burn easily…

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 28/09/2023 20:47

Noooooooooooooo

DunderMifflinInc · 28/09/2023 20:57

Haha. I didn't realise how much hate wind chimes get. I don't mind them personally (on occasion), but it does explain the lack of them I can find online 🤔

I'll definitely check out Woodstock.

The neighbours will hear them.

I quite like the sound of wind chimes, just came on here to read the posts of wrath. My neighbour had metal ones and I always found them pleasant to hear. Never inflicted them on anyone else though.

Oh god. What have I agreed to...

I think I'll look for something else and say I couldn't find one 'special' enough. Case closed.

The sound of wooden or bamboo ones is much less intrusive than metal. They really are best bought in person, so you can hear them, but some online shops have videos loke this one https://www.thewindchimeshop.co.uk/plain-bamboo-wind-chimes_c2372.aspx

Personally, I'd look for proper musically tuned chimes, but they are harder to find in wood.

Spare a thought for the birds trying to sleep. Wind chimes aren't natural.

Thank you sooo much!

We have just had Storm Isha.
For the first time in a Storm,...no hideous clonking from inane, f&cking wind chimes.

The fashion for them was ghastly.
Inane clonk! CLONK clonky clonk from wood ones to the manic tinkle tinkle tinkle of the metal ones.

The lack of chime noise made me google- and am so relieved that they are out of fashion.
I have seen therewith the chimers cut off before- and assumed neighbours had done it.

These are what tortured us, every windy day.
They are bloody horrible and inane sounding. Pointless noise for the sake of it.
