yes we have this random bit of land thats not part of our garden than is our responsibilty, theres a sewer acceess there so it has to be accessable, only trouble is, locals use it as a dog toilet, dirty bastards
and i dont fancy mowing it

so i though we could either gt a strimmer and cut it down every now and then, how often do you think id have to do this

or get some strong weedkiller and kill the lot

ideally id dig the whol lot up and gravel it after putting down som weed membrane as then hopefully that would be done with for ages then
but i think it would take a while and id find it hard to get dh to help

Glysophate weedkiller would be the standard for a job like that. Round Up is the best known.

A greener alternative would be to suffocate the weeds with cardboard or old carpet. Basically you have to exclude all the light. But that would take a few months to do.

I have used Sodium chlorate weedkiller for that kind of thing. You have to bear in mind though that it is a soil steriliser and you won't be able to grow anything in it for months afterwards if you use that.

I'd second the carpet, weedkillers are, quite literally, poison.
