I've had my plant for 3 weeks and started to get these black spots on the leaves should I try to save it or take it back and get a refund ?

Is it in direct sunlight? They might be burned spots.

Where are you keeping it, and how often / how much is it watered?

Transplanted into new pot but had no window for light but bought a plant light.
Spraying leaves with soap water.

Why are you spraying the leaves?

Do you know what it is - that will make a difference to the kind of light it needs?

missann1956 · 09/09/2023 20:05

I'm spraying with a couple of drops of dawn dish washing liquid and water if it's a bug this will kill it they will get diarrhea from it.

The lady at the nursery said it was not a fungus she later call back and said it was(I knew all along it was ) I read a remedy of adding 1 teaspoon of baking soda to a quart of water then spray plant. Any other remedies you guys have?

I don't understand - what makes you think there is a pest on the plant you need to kill? Have you seen bugs?

It would be really helpful to know what plant it is and what light you have - for eg you might have the light in for too long or too close. Am assuming it's s plant light?

Ah just saw your update. I do not know what will work with fungus but I'd stop with the washing up liquid.

If you don't have any natural light in the room you'd be better off with an artificial plant, there's plenty of choice of good quality ones these days & they can look great. I think you're flogging a dead horse with this and not doing the poor old plant any good at all.
